The music of New Yor-Uba salutes the Orishas. Commissioned by Chamber Music America, Oru de Oro, a new work by pioneering jazz pianist Michele Rosewoman, is a ‘body of music’ focused around the bata drums and a traditional sequence of sacred rhythms called the Oru Seco. Rosewoman brings master Cuban folklorist/percussionist Roman Diaz, Yunior Terry, Tyshawn Sorey, and more to kick off the summer the right way.
